We had a good day today and made it to Stanley. 68 miles. Both the mom and I feel very misled as North Dakota is NOT flat (so far). Tomorrow we will attempt to get past Minot which is flooding and undergoing evacuations of parts of the city. It appears as though the road we need is still open though.
Stanley is a great little town. We have an excellent (and free) campsite on the edge of town. When we arrived we got pizza, groceries, and whirla-whips. Yum! After showers and a game of cards we are both pooped and ready for bed.
Glad you are now in North Dakota! It is one state I have never visited so let me know what the highlights are. I thin there is an International Peace Garden there somewhere, and Fargo is in the top affordable places to live. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteYippee, you two certainly deserve that beautiful bluebird day. Way to go! BTW, whats a whirli-whip? Candy? Ice cream?
ReplyDeleteWe have been thoroughly enjoying reading your daily posts and tracking your progress. At work, we've got all your daily stops plotted in Google Earth and we can get a visual of your route. Since you are so far north (near the Canadian border) we assume it is an all downhill ride from there to NC, right?
ReplyDeleteHow'd you guys select the route?
What part of MN are you passing through? Would love to meet up with you two. Your mom's college pal, Theresa, Duluth MN
ReplyDeleteA whirla-whip is ice cream made with hard ice cream and added candies whipped up with a special machine. Yummy.
ReplyDeleteWe are using adventure cycling maps and routes
Theresa we will be coming across Minnesota and will be passing through lax.
